Wanbing (Jennifer) Luo (罗婉冰) holds a Masters of Music degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy and a Bachelors of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Georgia. Her primary teachers and pedagogy instructors include Grace Huang, Martha Thomas, and Geoffrey Haydon. Dedicated to continuously learning eclectic styles of performance and music, she has had masterclasses with David Kalhous, Eunmi Ko, and Elizabeth Pridgen among others. Furthermore, she has performed and received critiques in collaborative piano masterclasses with world-renowned duo Anderson and Roe, Stephen Upshaw, and Clara Osowski.
During her time at UGA, Jennifer received numerous awards and scholarships, including the Athons-Hughes-Cook Piano Pedagogy Award and the Edge Undergraduate Piano Competition, honorable mention. She also received the Undergraduate Musical Excellence Award from Georgia State University.
Jennifer’s teaching experience includes students ranging from age six to adults. She has taught in both private and group/class piano settings. Currently, she is a piano instructor at Vivo Music and Arts Academy as well as Piano Works. Previously, she was on faculty at UGA’s Community Music School. During her years of teaching, her students have earned top marks and awards from festivals.
Jennifer is involved as a member of the Music Teachers National Association. During her studies, she held executive board member positions in TONIC, the UGA Collegiate Chapter of MTNA. Her leadership as president contributed to the chapter being nominated for—and ultimately receiving—the Georgia Music Teachers Association's Collegiate Chapter of the Year award. She has presented at the MTNA national conference.
Outside of teaching, Jennifer has been actively involved in her local Chinese church as worship leader and pianist. She has also been requested to perform at weddings and other events. In her free time, she enjoys attending local jazz jams, scrapbooking, and thrifting.
